I purchased one of these new ($135.00) from a Staples retail store in 2006. Used it daily, and after over 6000 images taken it finally quit. Things wear out...
It always performed very well in all circumstances - All one needs to do is read the instructions, experiment with every setting available (and there are MANY) and it will perform well for you.
My specialty is macro shots of jewelry, military badges and insignia. It works the best with a white velvet backdrop in indirect natural light or a high quality light box WITHOUT UTILIZING THE FLASH. The images are striking with no help needed from any photo editing program after that. Just crop and show.
In any case, I have just purchased another on on ebay for twenty five bucks. It is only 6 MP, but whatever... I have bought point and shoot double and triple MP cameras, and they can't hold a candle next to this one. What a waste of money and time.
I hope this guy lasts me another eight years. I would think that it will.
Perhaps I should stock up...
