Classic Facsimille of Golden Era Tackle
Herman Kessler left the photography world in 1993, survived by his wife of 40 years, the acclaimed "First Lady of Fly Tying", Helen Shaw. Kessler is well remembered in the sporting community for his thirty year contribution in publication Field and Stream, of which he took the chair of Art Direction. Kessler's personal medium lied behind the lens of a camera. A talent that would allow his artistic endevours freelancing to produce Lefty Kreh's self titled casting book and more notably the handy work of his bride in her debut self teaching fly tying guide. Collaborating on Fishing Tackle Catalogs of the Golden Age, Kessler was able to accuratly reproduce the pages of 19th century tackle catalogs, the only then known reference to some of the today's most coveted collectibles. Due to Keller's work, the average enthusiast need not spend the highly demanding dollars for the original publications to moreover enjoy the richly detail texts and illustrations of these lovely early pieces of ephemera.
